Gardening Gifts and Solar Power Vehicles

I was twenty in 1974 and back home from the University of Michigan where I was studying ways to save on fossil fuels by using solar, wind and nuclear energy. To help with tuition, I found a lawn and garden maintenance position in one of the wealthiest areas of Flint.

As I approached the mansion and shook hands with my contact, a retired life insurance executive, I could almost hear the voices of radical students in my environmental studies class. The rich and powerful are bad people who are wasting and using up our natural resources. They pollute the environment without consequences. Don’t trust anyone over 30!
